Brooklyn Book Launch Party at Public Records

This was the kick-off of the book release party tour, in the homeland of Dust & Grooves. It was at the amazing Public Records, who accommodated the incredible amount of 550 RSVPs we had. What a way to feel supported! It was amazing to see so many faces there, reminding us all that the record-collecting community is so great and so important.

The vibes were great from the minute it started; it started at 4pm, so it was a good way to start winding down into the Saturday early. The weekend feeling was heavy, and made very much real by our incredible DJs who came down to spin, all featured in Dust & Grooves Vol.2. We had sets from Leon Michels, Kristine Barilli, Shawn Dub, Jonny Go Figure, Grace of Spades, David Ma, Carter Van Pelt, DJ Scribe, McBoing Boing, DJ Turmix, Amir Egozy, Mr. Big Happy, and DJ Woof—that’s almost a festival in itself!

They were all fantastic and kept the room grooving far into the night. If you missed the set, you can check out the collections of the DJs in the book, and some are featured in our interview archive online. Check it out! We were so happy and grateful to partner with Audio-Technica, who kindly donated the Sound Burger and some stellar Bluetooth headphones to make sure the sound was as enjoyable as the great music. They are also involved in our Vinyl Motherlode giveaway, so much love to them!

There was plenty of fun to be had outside of the music, too. There was a load of Dust & Grooves goodies, and very excitingly so as this was the first time many of the books were being shown in real life, in the real world, as real books! It’s fun to be able to sign stuff that has been in the making for almost 5 years, so they were definitely a VIP guest.

A funky bit of merch that was also available were some limited edition Dust & Grooves tshirts that were made in collaboration with Ashes57. She is an incredible Brooklyn-based artist, who has had iconic collaborations with artwork for Wu-Tang Clan, videos for DJ Rashad, and many more visuals across the electronic music scene. Ashes57 has made a series of t-shirts and tote bags that feature the super fun character of DJ Mono (monkey for you non-Spanish speakers). Be sure to check them out here, available for a short time only.

The night ended with a raffle, hosted by our wonderful intern Sammy, so we were able to dish out some more little goodies. That’s always nice, and the least our amazing community deserve. Thank you so much for coming down and getting down and groovy. It was an absolute blast, and a great start to the tour. Amsterdam, London, Lisbon, and Paris we’re coming to you next!
