Extra Cuts: Keb Darge – London, UK

“Keb Darge is my all time hero when it came to rare Funk and Grooves. I grew up listening to his fabulous compilations ‘Keb Darge’s Legendary Deep Funk’. In one of my trips to Israel, I had a layover in London. That day, the volcano erupted in Island leaving half the world immobile. I was stuck in London for 7 days, but I decided to make the best out of it. I called up Keb, and he invited me to his house for a cup of tea and an amazing photo session!”

Dude, those are some badass shots. I was a Jazz/Funk DJ in the 90s and a friend of mine became a pretty close friend to him after we invited him several times to our club. He is such a cool bloke. Once he had no money to pay my friend for a gig in London due bad vists and he gave him a badass Vinyl instead worth a few hundred bucks. Another cool story was that he swapped a pretty rare Funk 7″ from his collection with another friend of mine. The original from my friend was actually a nice pretty groover he found on a flea market but was some kind of mispressing so Keb gave him a another 7″ worth approx. 1000$ for that because he had to gave his copy for his divorce thingy.

One of the nicest guys I have ever met.
