Closing out the book release party tour was a perfect night in LA. After a month of traveling worldwide celebrating Dust & Grooves Vol.2 launch, a night at Gold Line Bar delivered a bittersweet last hurrah. The energy was there from the first needle drop as the bar was packed!
Gold Line Bar opened in 2018 from the minds of our friends at Stones Throw Records. The walls are filled with over 8,000 records from Peanut Butter Wolf’s personal stash. It was the perfect home to complete the book tour and welcome friends of Dust & Grooves to a new era.
It’s not rare to catch big names at Gold Line, as their ties with Stones Throw bring in the biggest names in the LA scene. With the disco ball shining onto thousands of rare LPs, It’s the perfect place to get on decks for a set.
It was a night not only about the book but a decade-long tribute to the vinyl community and culture. Having collectors behind the board set the tone for the night. There was a collective understanding of vinyl love in the air. No one questioned why vinyl was being spun; it was an assumption.
A rotation of DJs, collectors and selectors—all featured in Dust & Grooves Vol.2—swapped sets behind the turntables. Starting at 7 pm and running late, there were no breaks. The minds of Thes One, Double Peas, Mayer Hawthorne, Danny Holloway, Jeremy Sole, Andre Torres, QSTN, Ro Wyldeflower, Kevin Lewandowski, and Victoria Rawlins spinning some of their best 45s and keeping the vibes high.
A special moment was when A-Trak stopped by to say hi and hang out. He had just landed in LA hours before but made sure to party before closing.
Check out our extra trippy/fisheye Lomography gallery. Even if you weren’t able to attend, these pics should give you an idea of what was going down.
We couldn’t have done it without Peanut Butter Wolf and all the crew at Gold Line who hosted us. Until the next edition, keep spinning, digging, and collecting.
