You Dig?

A monthly curation of all that’s cool from the Dust & Grooves HQ and the incredible vinyl community around it

Issue #08 | August 2025 | Curated by DB Burkeman | Artwork by Pia Dehne | | | Down at those crossroads we reckon you’re sure to find this month’s cover art, from NY-based artist Pia Dehne. The painting’s based on her 2004 photoshoot, which recreated Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Ladyland cover – the one that didn’t make it to the then-prudish US market in 1968. The stencil-cum-cave painting style gives the iconic cover a whole new, yet curiously fitting vibe.

Issue 07 | April 2025 | Curation & Artwork by Jess Rotter | | | We’re thrilled to have LA-based illustrator and record fiend Jess Rotter guest curating this issue. Jess has been a good friend of Dust & Grooves right back to her 2013 interview with Eilon for the first book. I love that Jess’s first taste of vinyl was a Fisher Price Record Player next to her bed, and how she would wake up to flip over the record. Dedication, people.

Issue 06 | April 2025 | Curation by DJ Scribe | Artwork by Soundpapered | | | This month, we put virtual pen to paper, with DJ Scribe curating the cultural choices and Soundpapered providing the artwork. Soundpapered, the alter ego of British-American artist Rachel D. Abrams, has created some truly memorable cover art for You Dig?, above. Famously, art has no rules—but not so with Soundpapered.

Issue 05 | March 2025 | Curation by Grace of Spades | Illustration by Ellen G | | | We’re thrilled to have some seriously mind-bending cover art from Ellen G for this issue of You Dig?. Depending how quickly you can get your head around her Escher-style record store illustration, says a lot about how big your Saturday night was! Continuing the reggae vibes, curating the main chunk of this month’s newsletter is New York DJ and dedicated Dust & Groover, Grace of Spades.

Issue 04 | December 2024 | Curation by Kevin Foakes | Artwork by Hannah Brown | | | This month’s superb cover art comes from Leicester-based artist Hannah Brown of Kvist Studio. Kevin Foakes is behind the desk for this month’s Dust & Grooves Curates, hitting the levels with everything he’s been savouring this month–from a mixtape that honours the memory of J Saul Kane to his top five records on rotation.

Issue 03 | November 2024 | Curation and Artwork by Mafalda | | | This month’s lyrically-inspired watercolor cover art comes from London-based artist, DJ and sun-chaser, Mafalda Daniel. You may have spotted her in Dust & Grooves V2 with the cool Mac Miller slipmats... You can find her on Instagram @mafaldafromthesun, and behind the turntables for her monthly radio show on NTS.

Issue 02 | October 2024 | Curation by Yale Evelev | Artwork by Zoë Baxter | | | Moving onto Dust & Grooves Curates, the real meat of You Dig?, and we’ve got a treat for you in this issue. Yale Evelev, co-owner of Luaka Bop, shares a bunch of super-cool recs from his personal shelves (which he once ironically called “the largest collection of records that nobody’s interested in”).

Issue 01 | September 2024 | Curation by Richard Headland | Collage by Morgan Jesse Lappin | | | Check out this month’s Editorial Notes from our intern Fiona, and continue to the bulk of the issue: Dust & Grooves Curates, with hand-picked recommendations from one of our guest editors. This month, the recs come from me – Rich Headland, resident editor of You Dig?, and founder of Record Shop Stories – but next month we hand over the torch.
